The Kinks get the least respect of the first wave of the British Invasion bands, which is a shame because they're better than at least two of them. They're also an anomaly in that their creative peak was their mid-to-late career album work rather than their initial singles. But their singles are nothing to sneeze at. The Kinks rocked harder than any of their peers right out of the gate.
