Wow, I have a lot of respect for spontaneous action like that. No over-analysis, no second-guessing. Point a finger toward something and just go. The only thing sweeter would be if you were boarding a plane tomorrow, or if you decided where to go while in the airport. That's my dream. Perhaps someday.
Congrats on booking your trip. I can't wait for you to blog about it.
well, i've been planning for some time to go to chile for my next big trip. the impulse was the easter island jaunt. and booking the tix on the spur of the moment, of course.
What exactly does one do on Easter Island? Besides contemplating big, stone heads?

Oh and congratulations, I think.
Nevertheless, still spontaneous. Still very cool.
well, that remains to be seen. three days was the optimum stay for best ticket prices (which were above and beyond frequent flyer miles). i'm sure something will come up. the island is, i believe, tropical, after all.

and thank you.
You don't mess around.

My friend went to Chile last year and had a blast (he was on a wine junket with a bunch of sommeliers). They eat a lot of meat there.
Nicely done, hotrod.
While this is to be admired, you really should admit just how long you've been thinking of going to Chile, and researching it. And the thought of you spending 3 days on a tropical island is, well, amusing to say the least. Adios!
So, I should not expect you in the Old World then? That's cool, we're getting set to book a trip to the Baltics in July. We're planning on hitting Kaliningrad so that we can add ALL OF Russia to our map. heh

In all seriousness, I'm really glad to hear that you booked that trip, especially considering how long you've been talking about it. I expect Easter Island presents, mkay.
akai: last i checked ticket prices to europe, they were still astronomically expensive. so, sadly, no. but rest assured there is a tiny big head out there with your name on it.

vanna: see the addendum above.
[this is good]
I just watched a special on the Mowai the other night and wished I could go there. I am so very envious. Will you please send me a post card?
So you're finally going? guess I'll have to schedule that trip to Australia so I can stay ahead of you in the continent race.
you're not going to beat me in the continent race. no way. no how.
I admit that the kids have slowed me down, but I think I can take them to Australia with me. Infant Tylenol should work as a good sedative on the airplane. And if it's taken you this long to get to South America, I have a good chance of beating you!
i have renewed my resolve to the cause. or something.

there's nothing, i hear, that small children like better than an eighteen hour plane trip.
