city of champions

contrary to what you may have heard 'round this little corner of the internets, the steelers aren't the only pennsylvania football team that pisses excellence.  we here at hotrod.vox.com would like to extend a laurel and a hearty handshake to the pittsburgh passion of the national women's football association.  last saturday, they concluded an undefeated regular season with a 77-0 victory over the central pennsylvania vipers.  the passion finished 8-0, and their quest for yet another championship for the steel city begins this weekend against their upstate rival erie illusion.  we wish them luck; in the unfortunate (and friggin' long - come on, already) absence of the NFL, this is - i guess - the best we've got.

I've actually been interested in attending a game. The Passion had a bunch of information at the local Y, and I found myself terribly intrigued by all of the players after reading their literature.

their website is fairly thorough with the player bios. most of these women have other jobs and play football because, one would assume, they love the game. if i lived there i'd check it aht, for sure. and not just because the thought of women playing football is way sexy. good for them, i say.

Just more proof that football=life in SW PA! They have a team down here in Miami too. I thought for a brief moment of looking into playing until I saw that all those girls had 5 to 6 inches and 100 pounds on me. I think I'll stick to spectating.

True. In fact, Philly is working hard on coming up with a way to celebrate the franchise's 10,000th loss. Officially (according to Elias Sports Bureau & MLB), we're at 9,990 at this moment.
