[this is not good]
I almost had to flag this as offensive.
You're just saying that to make me feel better. Thanks, though.

I'm glad you posted this audio. About 1/3 of the way in, you can hear "Rot in Hell" from that angry local yokel. And now that I heard the "Gloria" clip again...yeah, you mangled that one more than I originally thought.

I've always thought that a post-event re-vote, just for the hell of it, after listening to the clips, would be informative.
No really, it's truly awful and your choice of choosing a song that so many not-so-smart people hold close to their hearts? Brilliant.
Ah I just heard "rot in hell." Such a nice touch. In past years, something like this would have been more than enough. Its an ugly new world out there.
[this is good]

That is quite a wonderful (awful) rendition.

I think that next year you should have two trophies. A "Live KttD Trophy", and a "Web Vote Trophy". That would allow you to get a fair number of unbiased 3rd parties to listen to all of the clips and vote.

Audio clips are posted for entertainment purposes only. Fostering controversy is one of those forms of entertainment. But the position of the Rules Committee is - and always will be - that one must be present at Karaoke to the Death to have a say in the Karaoke to the Death champion. Though audio clips may indicate - as I suspect will be the case this year - that the winner's song may not have been the most poorly sung of the evening, stage presence has always been a factor. Some years it is more of a factor than others. Aussie Bob is the one and only champion of KttD VIII and will remain so until the day before Presidents' Day, 2009.

Do you think said angry townie was just in a surly mood or perhaps he rightly recognized your cynical assault on the one song that got him through the toughest nine months of his life which included overcoming meth addiction, the departure of his first wife, Jerome Bettis' retirement, and the death of his dog?
Hey now, I had a tough time getting over Jerome Bettis' retirement, too.
